Andile's Story I first became interested in coding because I’ve always been drawn to problem-solving and technology. Growing up, I was fascinated by how apps, websites, and games worked. I remember using computers in school and wondering how everything functioned behind the scenes. But my real introduction to coding happened when I started learning basic programming concepts in CAT (Computer Applications Technology) and later expanded my skills in languages like Python, C++, R, and Java. What really hooked me was the creative side of coding. I love how you can start with a blank screen and, with just a few lines of code, create something functional and meaningful. Whether it’s a small program that automates a boring task or a website that looks super cool, the ability to build things from scratch is empowering. Plus, there’s something really satisfying about solving a tough bug—it’s like solving a puzzle, and the sense of accomplishment is amazing! Another big factor in my interest was seeing how coding is used in so many different fields. Whether it’s artificial intelligence, finance, cybersecurity, or even gaming, coding is at the core of modern innovation. The idea that I could use programming to build my own projects, develop apps, or even start a tech business one day is super exciting. As I’ve learned more, I’ve realized that coding isn’t just about writing lines of code—it’s about thinking logically, being creative, and constantly learning new things. That’s what keeps me motivated and excited about my journey in tech.

🙋‍♀️ Andile's Motivation

My motivation is driven by passion, curiosity, and ambition. Coding is such a powerful skill that opens up endless possibilities, whether it’s building websites, developing apps, automating tasks, or even diving into data science. I love the idea of being able to create something from scratch—something that people can actually use and interact with. It’s like having a superpower that allows you to bring your ideas to life. One of the main reasons I’d choose SheCodes specifically is because of its focus on making tech more accessible to women. The tech industry is still pretty male-dominated, and while that’s slowly changing, I think it’s important to have spaces where women feel supported and encouraged to learn. SheCodes provides structured learning, mentorship, and a community of like-minded women, which makes it way less intimidating to dive into coding. Another big motivation for me is career opportunities. The world is becoming more digital, and knowing how to code can open doors to high-paying jobs, freelance work, and even entrepreneurial ventures. Whether I end up working as a software engineer, web developer, or even in cybersecurity, coding is a valuable skill that will always be in demand. Plus, it’s super rewarding to solve problems and figure things out—every time I get my code to work, it’s such a great feeling! At the end of the day, I want to be part of the future of technology, and learning to code is the first step toward that goal.

🤹‍♀️ Andile's Hobbies

I love coding, trading, and solving tech-related problems. Besides that, I enjoy gaming, watching sci-fi movies, and exploring new tech trends. I also like reading about finance, listening to music, and spending time with friends. Sometimes, I experiment with new coding projects just for fun!

The SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The SheCodes Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
