Bertha's Story I have always been curious about Information Technology, but I never knew where to start. Recently, I started following a lot of women in IT on TikTok. I enjoy watching their videos because they share their stories, show the projects they are working on, and explain what they do. Watching them has made me believe that I can also learn these skills if I work hard and stay committed. One thing that really caught my attention is coding. At first, it looked difficult, but the more I watched, the more interesting it became. I like solving problems and learning new things, so I think coding is something I would enjoy. Instead of only thinking about it, I decided to challenge myself by taking short courses so I can learn and improve my skills. I know that learning to code will not always be easy, and there will be times when I make mistakes. However, I am ready to be patient, keep practising, and never give up. I believe that every small step will help me become better. My biggest hope is that one day I will have the skills and confidence to inspire other girls to believe in themselves, try something new, and see that they can also have a future in Information Technology.

🙋‍♀️ Bertha's Motivation

I have always been curious about Information Technology, even though I have never had the opportunity to study it before. Over time, I realized that the only way to know if it is something I would truly enjoy is to give myself a chance to learn. Instead of letting fear or uncertainty hold me back, I have decided to challenge myself by taking short courses and developing new skills. This decision is about more than just learning about computers or technology. It is about investing in myself and discovering what I am capable of achieving when I commit to a goal. I know that learning something new can be difficult, especially at the beginning, but I am ready to put in the time, effort, and dedication it takes to succeed. I believe that every new skill I gain will help me grow both personally and professionally. I am excited to explore the world of IT because it is a field that is constantly evolving and creating new opportunities. Whether I decide to pursue it as a career or simply use the knowledge to strengthen my skills, I know this experience will be worthwhile. I am determined to stay focused, keep learning, and make the most of this opportunity, knowing that every step forward brings me closer to achieving my goals.I am currently unemployed. I was studying my third year of a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree, but I had to stop my studies because I could no longer afford the fees. Even though I had to leave, I still want to learn, improve my skills, and continue working towards my future goals whenever I get the opportunity.

🤹‍♀️ Bertha's Hobbies

I love reading romance novels because they help me relax and escape into different stories. I also enjoy listening to calm, relaxing music, especially when I am studying or unwinding after a busy day. These hobbies help me clear my mind, reduce stress, and bring me a sense of peace and happiness.

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The SheCodes Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
