Daria's Story That was 2 years ago. My brother, who works in a programming sphere, recommended me to get some coding courses. They turned out being too expensive, so I couldn't afford buying them. It was so disappointing, because I was really interested in gaining knowledge in this sphere. At first I tried learning coding on my own, on the Net. Of course I got some basic skills, but they are not enough to start working. When I saw SheCodes offering its courses for free, I was really excited. I have never thought that it can be possible to get such useful knowledge for free.

🙋‍♀️ Daria's Motivation

Because of the recent situation in my country, my family moved to Poland. We don't have enough money to stay here for a long time. Besides, there aren't many working places left. However, this is not the only reason I want to learn coding. It was always a sphere, where I wanted to try myself. I already have some skills, but it is difficult for me to use them in practise. SheCodes is the best chance for me to learn coding and find a good work, so that I can help my family. I really want to support my mom, bacause I probably can't even imagine how difficult it is for her to take decisions right now.

🤹‍♀️ Daria's Hobbies

Most of my time I spend on reading some books or watching YouTube channels. My book shelf is full of psylogical, medicine and business literature books. Dale Carnegie is the author I admire and read the most. In my opinion, he is the best one in his sphere (psycology and business). As for YouTube channels, I usually watch TED-Ed (a good choice to have a basic information about every theme), Epicurious ( a cooking channel) and Big Money ( a ukrainian channel, where people tell the story of their business, the problems they had and how they solved them, so it is definitely interesting to watch). Except that I also try to stay active. When we were in Kiev, I was going to the gym, but as we moved, I had to replace it with home work-outs and jogging. That's at least something, 'cause without doing sport at all, life seems to me surprisingly tiring and stressful.

The SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The SheCodes Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
