Eliliy's Story I think, I got inspired to start programming when I was watching YouTubers, specifically, young YouTubers programming and making their own websites and projects. The fact that people close to my age were able to create stuff using technology was something that made me want to learn more about programming, whether it would be possible for me to make stuff like this, too. I have always been an ambitious person, who had many dreams and wishes to make stuff myself, and programming seemed like a cool way to make all of my fantasies come true.

🙋‍♀️ Eliliy's Motivation

I want to learn to code because I want to take my ideas and turn them into real solutions that can actually make a difference in people's lives. I'm currently a student in Ethiopia and I'm very much into technology, particularly web development and AI. I'm learning HTML, CSS and JavaScript and I've already got some projects going. One of them is Study Sidekick which is a tool that helps students work out what they should study given their available time and energy. That experience has really inspired me to go further, to improve my skills and to build more meaningful projects. SheCodes would be the perfect opportunity for me to build on my coding skills, to gain the confidence to do it and to be part of a community of women who are all in it for the long haul. My ambition is to become a developer who can use technology in a creative way to solve problems and to in turn inspire other young girls to get into coding as well.

🤹‍♀️ Eliliy's Hobbies

In my spare time, I find pleasure in indulging in technology, learning about coding and artificial intelligence, and coming up with innovative project ideas which I want to work on in the future. I also love watching YouTube videos related to technology and creativity, reading books, and hanging out with my friends. I am a person who always finds joy in dreaming up innovative ideas and making them fun and interesting. Moreover, I am a person of faith and find pleasure in spending time with God.

The SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The SheCodes Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
