Fasika's Story In my seventh-grade year, I developed a keen interest in coding, driven by a genuine curiosity and a growing desire for creative expression. At that stage in my academic journey, the intriguing world of technology and a sincere interest in understanding the complexities of the digital landscape captivated my attention. The mysteries embedded within websites, applications, and games prompted me to delve into coding as a means of unraveling these technological intricacies. As a seventh-grader brimming with imaginative ideas, coding became a medium through which I could manifest and breathe life into these creative concepts. The prospect of crafting my digital creations, whether in the form of a modest website or a rudimentary game, extended beyond the realm of mere educational pursuit and evolved into a canvas for self-expression. As I progressed through my academic journey, I made a conscious decision to formalize and deepen my engagement with coding. This led me to join the software engineering department, where the curriculum provided a structured framework for honing my coding skills and delving deeper into the principles that govern software development.

As a student, my motivation for embarking on the journey to learn coding with SheCodes is fueled by a convergence of personal, academic, and career-driven aspirations. Firstly, I recognize the growing importance of coding skills in our increasingly digital world. Integrating coding into my skill set not only enhances my problem-solving abilities but also equips me with a fundamental understanding of technology that is becoming essential in various academic disciplines. On a professional level, the demand for coding proficiency is evident across diverse industries. SheCodes offers a structured and beginner-friendly approach, providing me with a pathway to not only enhance my capabilities but also broaden my career prospects. As a student, my life is often marked by the hustle of academic pursuits, but amidst the textbooks and lectures, I find solace and joy in a variety of hobbies that not only serve as a means of relaxation but also contribute to my personal growth and well-being. One of my favorite pastimes is reading. Amidst the rigors of coursework, losing myself in the pages of a good book is a welcome escape. Whether it's fiction, non-fiction, or even poetry, each book presents an opportunity to unwind, explore new perspectives, and foster a love for literature. In the digital age, YouTube has become an integral part of my leisure activities. Beyond the realm of academics, the platform offers a diverse range of content that caters to my interests. From educational videos that complement my studies to engaging vlogs that provide a break from the academic routine, YouTube is a go-to source for both entertainment and learning. Additionally, being a student doesn't mean sidelining my passion for football. Watching matches, discussing game strategies, and cheering for my favorite teams provide a refreshing break from academic commitments. The excitement and camaraderie of football bring a different kind of energy to my student life.

Fasika's coding training

Fasika has gained access to SheCodes Basics and SheCodes AI Basics at no cost. Together they are a 6 week coding training that’ll take her from a complete beginner to building her first websites and AI projects.

She'll learn the foundations of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, plus how to build with AI and modern development tools. She'll also get to build her own online portfolio to showcase to potential employers!
