Gorata's Story Growing up in a village where technology was quite rare, I developed a curious mind, and because I had the satisfaction of problem-solving, I knew it was something that would be of great interest to me. I enrolled in a computer science related field where I learned how to develop web apps, learned different languages such as SQL, JAVASCRIPT, python etc. I want to ensure that the knowledge I acquire through this program is shared with schools in the villages to inspire young women and boys to enroll in STEM courses. Their background should not be a limitation but motivation not for only for themselves but those who come before them.

🙋‍♀️ Gorata's Motivation

I graduated with a bachelor's degree in information systems and am currently unemployed. My number one priority is to learn how to create, solve, and build functional tools that will bring ideas to life in my village. I also believe the scholarship will help be in my career.

🤹‍♀️ Gorata's Hobbies

I enjoy coding and learning new languages, e.g., Python and C++; I am also into web development, creating comprehensive websites that are user-friendly and easier to understand has always been my forte.

The SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The SheCodes Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
