Hadia's Story At first, I had no idea what coding was. After graduating from high school, I took the Kankor examination and was accepted into Kabul Medical University of Science to study stomatology. It was my dream to become a dentist. Unfortunately, after the current government banned girls from continuing their education, I was no longer able to pursue that dream. Instead of giving up, I decided to learn something new that would motivate me and give me hope for the future. That was when I discovered coding. The more I learned about it, the more interested I became. Even though I still don’t fully understand how to build real programs, I enjoy learning and solving problems, and every new concept I learn motivates me to keep going. Coding became more than just a new skill—it became a source of hope. It reminded me that even if one path was closed, I still had the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a better future through online education. It gave me the confidence to believe that, no matter how difficult the circumstances are, I can still improve myself, support my family, and one day make a positive difference in my community.

🙋‍♀️ Hadia's Motivation

I want to improve my programming skills so I can solve real problems in my community. Learning to code will help me build a career in technology, support my family and people financially, and use my skills to make a positive difference in the lives of others. In my country, many people do not have a stable life or equal access to opportunities to learn and grow. That is why I truly value every chance to improve myself. I want to make the most of the opportunity provided by SheCodes by learning practical coding skills, gaining confidence, and continuing to grow as a developer. My goal is not only to create a better future for myself but also to help others. I hope to use what I learn to support my community, encourage more people—especially women—to explore technology, and show that with the right opportunity and dedication, it is possible to build a better future.

🤹‍♀️ Hadia's Hobbies

One of my biggest hobbies is spending time with my friends and loved ones. I enjoy having meaningful conversations with them, sharing experiences, and creating happy memories together. Another hobby I truly enjoy is reading books. Reading allows me to explore new ideas, learn about topics I know little about, and see the world from different perspectives. Every book feels like a journey into a new world that I have never experienced before, and it always leaves me with something valuable to learn. I also enjoy playing sports such as football, cricket, and tennis.

The SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The SheCodes Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
