Homaira's Story I first became interested in coding when I realized how powerful technology is in shaping our world and creating solutions for real-life problems. I’ve always been curious about how websites, apps, and digital tools work behind the scenes, and I wanted to understand the logic and creativity that make them possible. My interest grew stronger when I saw how coding can break geographical and cultural barriers, allowing people to connect, learn, and build together from anywhere. Living in a place with limited opportunities, I understood that coding could give me the freedom to work globally, create my own projects, and bring innovative ideas to life. I was also inspired by stories of women in tech who used programming to build impactful platforms, businesses, and careers. It showed me that coding isn’t just for building software—it’s a tool for empowerment, problem-solving, and making a difference. Since then, I’ve been eager to learn and explore this world of endless possibilities, knowing that every line of code I write brings me closer to becoming a creator rather than just a consumer of technology.

My motivation for learning how to code with SheCodes comes from my deep desire to gain practical, future-proof skills that can open global opportunities for me. Technology is shaping every industry, and coding is at the heart of it. I want to be able to create, design, and solve problems through technology—whether it’s building websites, developing applications, or launching projects that can have a real social impact. As a young woman from Afghanistan, I’ve faced many limitations in accessing resources and opportunities, but I believe coding can help me break those barriers. With SheCodes’ supportive and women-focused learning environment, I see a chance to not only learn technical skills but also build confidence in a global community of women in tech. I am particularly motivated by the flexibility coding offers—it’s a skill that allows me to work remotely, collaborate internationally, and turn ideas into reality. My ultimate goal is to use coding to contribute to meaningful projects, from educational platforms to innovative tools that help communities. Learning with SheCodes isn’t just about a career path for me—it’s about independence, creativity, and empowerment to shape a better future for myself and others through technology.

I enjoy a mix of creative, intellectual, and relaxing activities. Reading is one of my favorite hobbies—I especially love books with deep stories and emotional depth, as they allow me to explore different perspectives and cultures. I also enjoy writing, whether it’s journaling my thoughts, working on personal projects, or exploring creative ideas. For fun, I like watching engaging TV dramas and films, often drawn to stories with strong characters and meaningful messages. I enjoy listening to music that inspires me or matches my mood. Learning new skills—whether it’s a language, technology, or something artistic—also excites me, as I see it as both fun and an investment in my growth. Spending time on small creative projects, like designing visuals or organizing spaces to make them beautiful and functional, gives me joy. I also enjoy meaningful conversations with people, especially about big ideas, life goals, and the future. Overall, my hobbies are a mix of activities that keep me inspired, help me express myself, and allow me to keep learning in ways that are both enjoyable and fulfilling.

Homaira's coding training

Homaira has gained access to SheCodes Basics and SheCodes AI Basics at no cost. Together they are a 6 week coding training that’ll take her from a complete beginner to building her first websites and AI projects.

She'll learn the foundations of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, plus how to build with AI and modern development tools. She'll also get to build her own online portfolio to showcase to potential employers!

2. SheCodes AI Basics (3 weeks)
She’ll gain access to each portion after finishing the preceding portion. She’ll build up her coding knowledge gradually along the way. 🙌
