Igweocha's Story I first became interested in coding when I learnt that it was people who knew how to code that could build websites. That was so many years ago. In 2016, I came across an online learning platform called Futurelearn who offered free online classes in a variety of subjects, coding being one of them, but I did not have access to a personal laptop at the time.

🙋‍♀️ Igweocha's Motivation

The fact that I can learn coding for free motivated me to apply to learn with SheCodes. Coding is something I have wanted to learn for a long time but have not just been able to afford the lessons. Everyday, I see new Apps being developed for so many uses and I know that I can learn to do that, to create something new, useful and that would positively impact the world and the people around me. Also being a platform targeted at women also drew me to it. I believe that they would be able to design the courses in such a way that is feminine friendly and easy to follow and hopefully, I should be able to conclude the course in record time.

🤹‍♀️ Igweocha's Hobbies

I love to play board games such as scrabble, ludo and quirkle. I love to read and I write as well.

The SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The SheCodes Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
