Jamey's Story I first became interested in coding while exploring ways to launch a digital business. As I created productivity and finance templates for Etsy, I saw how coding could help me build more dynamic and useful tools. That curiosity led me to enroll in the FNB App Academy and later the WeThinkCode bootcamp, where I began learning the fundamentals and seeing how powerful tech can be for problem-solving and creativity. Coming from a background in administration, education, and customer service, I’ve always enjoyed helping others stay organized and reach their goals. Coding felt like a natural extension of that—just with a new set of tools. It’s exciting to know that I can combine my existing skills with coding to build things that make a difference.

🙋‍♀️ Jamey's Motivation

My motivation for learning how to code with SheCodes comes from a desire to build a more creative, flexible, and financially empowering career. I’ve worked in administrative support, education, and customer service, and I’m now transitioning into tech to unlock new opportunities for growth. Coding feels like the key to bringing my ideas to life—whether it’s building tools to help others stay organized or designing digital products that make an impact. I’m currently learning the basics through a coding course, but I’m looking for a community that supports women and provides more structured guidance—exactly what SheCodes offers. Being part of a global network of women in tech would mean so much to me. I’m ready to take this next step not just for myself, but to eventually use what I learn to help others, especially women and girls from underrepresented communities.

The SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The SheCodes Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
