Joan's Story I learnt a bit of coding while in highschool during a competition sponsored by a company called Safaricom. The company took some of the students from our school, I being one to a day's workshop. At this workshop we were able to meet and interact with young women in various fields of engineering. This sparked a desire to tread the path not taken by most women and learning how to code with SheCodes will be a great beginning.

🙋‍♀️ Joan's Motivation

To be able to learn Coding. I would like to pursue a career in software developing and engineering and this will be a great start. Learning to create websites and mobile applications will help me easily create solutions to existing conditions around me. With so many children lacking in basic source of knowledge ,I have always thought of how convenient it would be to have software that would enable anyone willing to learn to log in and access free sources of knowledge including a virtual science lab where a student can mix reagents and make fun chemical reactions. The very ultimate aim however is to improve quality of my life in all areas.

🤹‍♀️ Joan's Hobbies

I am a creative. I do paint drawings and mosaic arrangements. I am talented in arranging or sorting items, be it house arrangements or books or planning activities. I sing.

The SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The SheCodes Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
