Karien's Story I’ve been interested in coding since I was little, as I was always fascinated by how technology works. Growing up, I was inspired by my father, who owns his own tech company, which exposed me to the world of technology early on. This curiosity led me to pursue a BSc in Computer Science, where I’m deepening my knowledge and developing my skills to become a software engineer.

My motivation for learning how to code with SheCodes comes from my passion for technology and my goal of becoming a software engineer. I appreciate SheCodes’ structured learning approach, hands-on projects, and supportive community, which provide a great environment for building practical coding skills. Additionally, I’m excited about the opportunity to gain industry-relevant experience and enhance my problem-solving abilities.

Outside of coding and studying Computer Science, I enjoy exploring new technologies, working on personal projects, and learning about AI. I also like participating in virtual experiences and tech workshops to expand my skills. In my free time, I enjoy reading, problem-solving challenges, and staying active with hobbies that keep me creative and engaged.

Karien's coding training

Karien has gained access to SheCodes Basics and SheCodes AI Basics at no cost. Together they are a 6 week coding training that’ll take her from a complete beginner to building her first websites and AI projects.

She'll learn the foundations of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, plus how to build with AI and modern development tools. She'll also get to build her own online portfolio to showcase to potential employers!

📦 Foundation students get access to these coding workshops:
1. SheCodes Basics (3 weeks)
2. SheCodes AI Basics (3 weeks)
She’ll gain access to each portion after finishing the preceding portion. She’ll build up her coding knowledge gradually along the way. 🙌
