Katleho's Story I became interested in coding through my mother and my aunt, they’re both in the IT industry. Growing around black women soaring in the IT industry inspired me to want to also be part of the stem industry. I like that learning how to code opens up many career opportunities.

🙋‍♀️ Katleho's Motivation

My motivation for learning how to code with SheCodes is that I like how their certifications are acknowledged by many tech companies. Secondly, there is a lot of positive testimonials on the website from women who previously learnt how to code through SheCodes such as many women who finished the coding programme found jobs. Also, I am motivated by the fact that SheCodes has a 4.9 star rating. I love that fact that Shecodes foundation is community-minded. My other motivation for learning how to code is my financial situation at home. My dad was lost his job in 2020 and I’ve relied my on my mom to be the sole bread winner. Unfortunately my mom cannot afford to pay for my tuition so I’m stuck at home. I appreciate the fact that SheCodes offers free coding courses as I am unable to afford to go to study coding at an institution.

🤹‍♀️ Katleho's Hobbies

Some of my hobbies are creating ux prototypes on Canva and volunteering in my community like at the church and through my organisation which is centred around overcoming period poverty and negative body image

The SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The SheCodes Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
