Kgaugelo's Story I first heard about She Codes through TikTok — people were talking about the courses and I got curious. I looked into it and immediately knew it was exactly what I needed. But when I saw the price, my heart sank. As someone who is currently unemployed, it was simply out of reach for me. Then I found out about the funded scholarship — and I felt like it was meant for me. I won't pretend I have a tech background, because I don't. But I have hunger, discipline, and a real reason to show up every single day — because for me, this is not just a course, it's a way out and a way up.

🙋‍♀️ Kgaugelo's Motivation

"I am 32 years old, unemployed, and ready to change my life. I have always wanted to be good with computers, but I never had the opportunity or the skills to get started. Sitting at home without work has pushed me to stop waiting and start doing something that actually moves my life forward — and that something is learning how to code. I won't pretend I have a tech background, because I don't. But I have hunger. I have discipline. And I have a real reason to show up every single day — because for me, this is not just a course, it's a way out and a way up. At 32, I know this is my moment to challenge myself, grow my skills, and become someone who contributes meaningfully in the digital world. This scholarship would remove the one barrier standing between me and that future. I am not asking for a handout — I am asking for a chance to prove what I can do when someone believes in me."**

🤹‍♀️ Kgaugelo's Hobbies

"Honestly, I am a pretty simple and quiet person. I spend most of my time indoors. I enjoy watching videos online — TikTok is actually how I discovered She Codes in the first place. I like learning new things through my phone, whether it is watching how people build things, grow businesses, or teach skills online. I also enjoy just having quiet time to think and reflect. I know that might not sound exciting, but that stillness is actually what pushed me to make a big decision — to stop scrolling and start doing. I may not have a long list of hobbies, but I have curiosity. And lately, my favourite thing to do has been researching how to better my life — which led me right here."** This turns a simple lifestyle into something genuine and even powerful. It shows self-awareness and that TikTok wasn't just entertainment for you — it was the spark.

The SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The SheCodes Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
