Khushi's Story My interest in coding wasn’t something I grew up with — it bloomed out of curiosity. During my early college days, I would see peers and seniors building things that amazed me — from apps to websites to full-scale platforms that solved real problems. I remember watching them and thinking, “I want to do that too.” That was the spark. I started learning slowly — tinkering with HTML and CSS, then diving into JavaScript and Python. What really changed the game for me was open source. When I got selected as a contributor in GirlScript Summer of Code (GSSoC), I wasn’t just learning how to code — I was learning how to collaborate, how to communicate across time zones, and how to write code that mattered. It gave me confidence and introduced me to a larger world beyond just classroom learning. Since then, I’ve worked on projects, contributed to codebases, mentored school students, and taken part in community-driven initiatives. Each experience added depth to my relationship with tech. I’m no longer just learning to code — I’m learning to build, to lead, and to use tech as a force for positive change.

🙋‍♀️ Khushi's Motivation

My motivation for learning how to code with SheCodes is rooted in both personal growth and a desire to empower others like me. Coming from an environment where access to resources and tech exposure wasn’t always a given, I had to carve my own path — exploring coding through free platforms, reaching out to mentors, and building projects independently. I didn’t come from a place where tech was considered “easy” or even “for me,” but over time, I’ve come to see it as a tool for creativity, impact, and self-expression. SheCodes stands out to me because it combines technical learning with community support, something I’ve come to value deeply through my experience in open-source communities. I’ve seen firsthand how empowering it is to not just consume technology but to create it — especially as a woman in tech. I want to sharpen my technical skills, deepen my knowledge of real-world development practices, and most importantly, be part of a space where learning feels supportive and inclusive. This opportunity wouldn’t just help me grow as a developer — it would also equip me to give back more meaningfully. I want to mentor others, help beginners feel less intimidated by code, and contribute to communities that create space for young women to thrive. SheCodes feels like the perfect next step in that journey.

🤹‍♀️ Khushi's Hobbies

I love creative writing — especially journaling and storytelling. I enjoy spending time on personal design projects, trying out new tech tools just for fun, and learning about how technology intersects with social change. I also find joy in mentoring younger students, volunteering, and being part of communities like GDG and Enactus that bring people together for a purpose.
