Lindiwe Portia's Story My coding journey began in high school, where I embraced Information Technology and explored programming using Delphi. I pursued Accounting instead, as I had doubts about entering the previously male-dominated sphere. When I came to a fork in the road, I decided to go into accounting instead of the traditionally male-dominated field of technology. My real love was coding, as I discovered while immersing myself in the complexities of an accounting degree in the university hallways. I was more excited by computer modules than by anything I had learned in my official accounting education. My exploration into Delphi programming in high school came back to me as a sign leading me in the direction of my real passion. This insight fueled my desire to step away from accounting and return to my original interest in coding. My adventure with coding, is essentially a never-ending path of self-discovery and every step strengthens my belief that learning to code is a passion that has yet to be completely realized rather than merely a talent. More than just a chance to learn, this funding would offer me the ability to regain the road I once glimpsed and to start a life-changing adventure in the vibrant and inclusive world of technology.

I anticipate a career and an exciting path of constant learning and invention in this huge and ever-evolving field. Work in the tech field is evidence of the flexibility and increased productivity it provides, not just a convenience for me. This offers a comfortable sense of employment security and a path to a job that overcomes geographic boundaries, especially when combined with the increasing demand for coding abilities and because it is a constantly evolving space, one can never get bored. Coding is also an endless learning playground. I look forward to improving my reasoning and problem-solving ability by learning how to break complex processes into simple steps. I can't wait to set out on this road of never-ending growth with SheCodes. I am intrigued by the prospect of helping to create a future in which technology serves as a catalyst to generate change rather than merely a tool.
