Lungile's Story A former friend once told me about coding briefly just before Covid-19 hit. Unfortunately we lost contact during the lockdown and I hadn't gathered up much information about it to know for sure that I like it and would like to get into it. I did go on to do some research but I struggled to understand deeper, it all seemed very complicated and expensive to learn, given that I do not own a laptop but I was recently introduced to SheCodes and attended SheCodes Express and that has really sparked interest in me more than ever before.

🙋‍♀️ Lungile's Motivation

As a refugee, I am unfortunately unable to further my studies as I cannot afford to do so and hardly qualify for funding opportunities or student finance due to nationality and SheCodes aims to empower women like me with the opportunity to have access to that and get into the world of tech. This would help me greatly, it would provide me with all the knowledge and skills needed to get into this industry and eventually help myself and my family into living better.

🤹‍♀️ Lungile's Hobbies

I like to play chess, I play a bit of music as well, mainly the keyboard, I just recently started learning to play the bass guitar.

🎯

The SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The SheCodes Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
