Makgabo's Story I first became interested in coding in the year 2019 when Information Technology was introduced as a subject in my school. Seeing how the girl learners enjoyed and excelled at the subject peaked my interest. I would like to encourage and teach more girl learners and young women to learn how to code to give them more access to job opportunities in the IT sector. I believe that it will open doors for me in the IT sector both in the educational sector and corporate sector. I would use my skills gained from the educational sector to make myself stand out to potential employers. I am interested because SheCodes offers free courses which will allow me to gain these skills as I don't have the financial capability to study at a university.

🙋‍♀️ Makgabo's Motivation

As a high school teacher in a non-fee paying public high school, I believe that I can use SheCodes to make myself more marketable in the education sector especially in this fourth industrial revolution. Through SheCodes I believe I can encourage more women and young girls to better themselves and learn new coding skills which can empower them. The fact that SheCodes has a 4.9 star rating makes me confident in the fact that I will benefit highly from this course which will in turn help me provide for my family.The positive reviews from women also give me confidence that I can use SheCodes to get a job that will allow me to encourage and recruit other young women and girls to follow the same path.

I like tackling projects that require me to think out of the box or require me to learn new skills. For example, learning how to play a new instrument or designing certificates/posters to practice my skills.

Makgabo's coding training

Makgabo has gained access to SheCodes Basics and SheCodes AI Basics at no cost. Together they are a 6 week coding training that’ll take her from a complete beginner to building her first websites and AI projects.

She'll learn the foundations of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, plus how to build with AI and modern development tools. She'll also get to build her own online portfolio to showcase to potential employers!

1. SheCodes Basics (3 weeks)
2. SheCodes AI Basics (3 weeks)
She’ll gain access to each portion after finishing the preceding portion. She’ll build up her coding knowledge gradually along the way. 🙌
