Mariela's Story I learned a bit of coding at the University, but not all of my knowledge helps me to learn web design in an assertive manner and land a well-paid job. In my bachelors thesis I learned basics of C++ to simulate a communication channel. In my master, I used some python and Matlab to test statistical filters.

🙋‍♀️ Mariela's Motivation

Venezuela is passing through a very difficult economical crisis which leads to relatively low incomes. Doing a bit of research I found out that SheCodes has a foundation for refugees and developing countries including Venezuela. I joined Matt's introductory class and I learned that the program is very interactive and carefully structured. I feel that SheCodes is a clear roadmap to start a career in tech. I also see SheCodes as an opportunity to overcome adversity in a country deprived of opportunities.

🤹‍♀️ Mariela's Hobbies

I love making friends from different cultures and backgrounds. Learning from my international friends has enriched my life greatly.

🎯

The SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The SheCodes Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
