Masingita's Story I first became interested in coding through platforms like Girls who Code and Kode with Klossy which is where I discovered that technology can solve real-world problems and help me channel my creativity and problem-solving skills. I can recall expressing this creativity during a Kode with Klossy boot camp where the other girls and I were tasked to train Teachable Machine. I decided to train it to detect skin conditions (acne, rosacea and hyperpigmentation) on darker skin tones because it's less represented in dermatology. This project sparked my interest in beauty and fashion tech, which I hadn't known up until research that my 2 favourite passions could intersect into tech and coding.

🙋‍♀️ Masingita's Motivation

With the skills I would learn through SheCodes, I want to use coding to build tech solutions that empower women and improve mental health accessibility as someone interested in both psychology and tech. Being part of Technovation Girls drew me to gain actual understanding and dive deeply into coding as a career and passion. The platform focuses on young girls building apps aligned with the UN SDG goals and bettering their communities. I built a mental health app for GBV survivors which I built using Flutterflow, a drag-and-drop app builder. Acquiring coding skills would help me build it and other projects to their full potential. My professional and career goals as an 18-year old girl is to gain the necessary skills to craft a career in AI engineering or as an AI project manager. My primary goal is to make and build more projects that improve the well-being of others through tech and to build ethical and impactful AI solutions.

🤹‍♀️ Masingita's Hobbies

I love reading Substack articles, psychology/personal development books and journaling.

The SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The SheCodes Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
