Mercy's Story Sometime back, I worked in commission based sales. What this meant was HR would often have todo manual calculations of commissions owed to the sales team by hand ( Excel ). With the sales team being close to 1 thousand people, this meant it would take the team a few days before they were done with it. I found out I could learn to to code, and cut this period down to an hour max. So I learnt python, and made a basic script to do this. After this, I sought all the knowledge I could find about coding and the possibilities that lie within it.

🙋‍♀️ Mercy's Motivation

With the world evolving, I hope to evolve with it. I have always been fascinated by coding, and all the incredible things we are able to teach or program computers to do. As a Kenyan woman, I realize there aren't very many of us in this field. So I appreciate the opportunity SheCodes presents me. To not only pursue my passion, but potentially be part of a community driving positive change for women in tech.

🤹‍♀️ Mercy's Hobbies

I like to read, my favorites are fantasy literature and science fiction. I also enjoy a good romcom.

The SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The SheCodes Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
