Neliswa's Story I was introduced to coding while I was pursuing my degree in Aeronautical engineering.There was a course where we were taught how to code using MATLAB. Coding seemed interesting and fun. I enjoyed being given problems to solve using coding. Being able to see a code I wrote do exactly what it is intended to do amazed me and made me realise how much we use coding and programmed devices in our daily lives without realising it. As my coding passing grew, I also wanted to learn other languages and broaden my skills.

When I was doing research about coding I came across testimonies of females from South Africa who learnt how to code from SheCodes and they only had good things to say. What motivated me was knowing that SheCodes is interested in empowering females from developing countries while bridging the gap between male and females in the programming industry. With the knowledge SheCodes is impacting, it is giving developing countries a chance to develop their skills and participate in improving the economy. With the skills I will obtain at SheCodes I will definetely widen my knowledge, help others and hopefully start my own business coding.

I am an aviation enthusiast so in my free time i like to do aircraft spotting. When I'm not spotting aircraft, I usually try out new recipes from social media and lastly, I indulge myself in music.

Neliswa's coding training

Neliswa has gained access to SheCodes Basics and SheCodes AI Basics at no cost. Together they are a 6 week coding training that’ll take her from a complete beginner to building her first websites and AI projects.

She'll learn the foundations of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, plus how to build with AI and modern development tools. She'll also get to build her own online portfolio to showcase to potential employers!

2. SheCodes AI Basics (3 weeks)
