nompumelelo's Story I first became interested in coding when I realized how much technology shapes our everyday lives—especially apps, websites, and digital tools that make things easier or more fun. I started wondering how all of it works behind the scenes and wanted to understand how to build those things myself. My curiosity grew as I explored platforms like Power BI and GitHub, and the more I learned, the more I wanted to go deeper—especially with coding. I saw how coding opens up opportunities in tech, helps you solve problems creatively, and lets you build anything from scratch, even with just a laptop and an idea. Now I want to learn properly so I can turn my ideas into real projects and open up new career paths for myself in the tech world.

My motivation for learning how to code with SheCodes is to build a better future for myself through technology. I’ve always been interested in how apps and websites work behind the scenes, and I want to go from being a user to a creator. Coding feels like a superpower—being able to solve real-world problems, bring ideas to life, and create opportunities for myself and others. I’m especially drawn to SheCodes because it’s designed for women and creates a safe, empowering space to learn tech skills. I want to be part of a growing community of women in tech and eventually use my skills to help others, especially young girls, discover the world of coding too.

Some of my hobbies include teaching myself how to code, exploring tech tools, and working on creative side projects. I enjoy learning new things—especially when I can apply them right away. Right now, I’m teaching myself coding through online resources, and I find it exciting to see my skills grow little by little. For fun, I like doing hands-on activities like designing, testing business ideas, painting, or creating digital projects. I also enjoy spending time with family, watching series, or just unwinding with a good playlist.

nompumelelo has gained access to SheCodes Basics and SheCodes AI Basics at no cost. Together they are a 6 week coding training that’ll take her from a complete beginner to building her first websites and AI projects.

She'll learn the foundations of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, plus how to build with AI and modern development tools. She'll also get to build her own online portfolio to showcase to potential employers!

1. SheCodes Basics (3 weeks)
2. SheCodes AI Basics (3 weeks)
She’ll gain access to each portion after finishing the preceding portion. She’ll build up her coding knowledge gradually along the way. 🙌
