Nqobile's Story A friend of mine introduced me to coding which is when I started to search it up. Time went by, I did a lessons via YouTube which heightened my interest. My fascination grew stronger when I realised the impact coding has on shaping the digital world. However I took a break and I started seeing more content about women in tech pop on my for you page. I became more educated about the different roles with the tech world and I now have a desire to contribute to the tech world.

🙋‍♀️ Nqobile's Motivation

Initially I was motivated by the huge gap of women vs men in the tech industry and being a part of the people to close the gap. In the ever evolving world we live in, learning how to code with SheCodes will open doors in the industry and will allow me to learn a highly valued skill which will in return provide me with a stable income which is very different with South Africa's high unemployment rate. I am also motivated by the vision of possibly being a role model for girls in my community because I think representation in every industry matters.

🤹‍♀️ Nqobile's Hobbies

My hobbies include teaching English and accounting in my spare time during the week. I also enjoy experimenting with different ingredients to create new dishes. I play netball and swim occasionally just to calm myself and move away from my daily routine.

The SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The SheCodes Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
