Ongezwa Unathi's Story I have never learnt how to code, but I've always been fascinated by computers from a very young age. My favourite toy from when I was a kid was a children's laptop that my mother had bought for me. I was more interested in how it was able to teach me all those words. I encountered people who code on social media but knew I couldn't afford the lessons.

🙋‍♀️ Ongezwa Unathi's Motivation

I have two siblings, both are males, and all three of us are unemployed. We were raised by our now 79-year-old pensioner grandmother, and I need to improve our lives because we have no one else. I believe that if I learn how to code that might increase my chances of employment in this technology focused world we live in. I am mostly interested in learning data collection and analysis, developing my algorithmic thinking and logical reasoning, increasing my employability and career flexibility because with tech I can work from anywhere in the world since coding is a universal language.

I like reading biographies and fiction novels. I have recently learnt how to DJ on my pc, and I practice that whenever I'm bored not because I have an interest in performing in front of a crowd but because I am more fascinated by the software.

Ongezwa Unathi's coding training

Ongezwa Unathi has gained access to SheCodes Basics and SheCodes AI Basics at no cost. Together they are a 6 week coding training that’ll take her from a complete beginner to building her first websites and AI projects.

She'll learn the foundations of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, plus how to build with AI and modern development tools. She'll also get to build her own online portfolio to showcase to potential employers!
