PENUMOLA's Story My interest in coding started when I began learning C programming in the early stage of my journey. At first, I joined a tuition center for coding classes, but I found the concepts difficult to follow. Instead of stopping there, I slowly started learning in my own way by watching classes, practicing on different compilers, and experimenting with programs. As I kept trying, I began solving tricky problems and learning new syntaxes, which made me curious to explore more. Each time I executed a program successfully, I felt excited and satisfied because I could see my effort turning into results. These small achievements encouraged me to continue learning. Over time, I realized coding is not only about writing programs but also about thinking logically, solving problems, and being creative with ideas. When I entered college, I understood even more clearly how important coding is for a Computer Science student. With coding, we can bring ideas to life and even create solutions that can be applied in the real world. This made me more passionate about learning and improving my skills, and it continues to motivate me to grow as a coder.

🙋‍♀️ PENUMOLA's Motivation

My motivation for learning how to code with SheCodes comes from the fact that SheCodes has empowered women beyond just coding. Through its programs, it builds technical skills, confidence, and professional readiness, enabling women to excel in their current roles, launch careers as developers or entrepreneurs, and contribute meaningfully to society. By fostering a supportive community, SheCodes helps women break barriers, bring their ideas to life, and make a real difference in both tech and the world around them. I’m especially drawn to SheCodes because it provides a supportive community and a hands-on approach that makes learning both creative and purposeful. As a second-year Computer Science Engineering student, coding has already become an important part of my journey. I enjoy turning ideas from real-world problems into apps and websites, and to bring these ideas to life a strong coding foundation is essential. For me, coding is not just about writing programs—it is about finding ways to make ideas practical and useful in everyday life. A SheCodes scholarship would provide the guidance and platform to turn my passion into something greater, help me grow as a confident developer, open career opportunities, and bring me closer to my dream of using technology to create meaningful solutions—and make my family proud.

🤹‍♀️ PENUMOLA's Hobbies

My hobbies include listening to music, which relaxes me, and playing games, especially badminton. I also enjoy watching movies and spending time with friends and family. Solving tricky coding problems in my free time, whether during class breaks or leisure hours, gives me a feeling of self-satisfaction and joy.

The SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The SheCodes Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
