Phila's Story I first became interested in coding when I started exploring cloud computing and technology while studying at Stellenbosch University. At first, I was curious about how apps, websites, and digital systems actually work behind the scenes. The more I learned, the more I realized that coding is a powerful skill that can be used to solve real-world problems and create opportunities. I also became interested in how technology can connect with industries like agriculture and wine production through data, automation, and AI. That curiosity inspired me to start learning more about coding and to challenge myself to grow in the tech space.

What motivates me to code with She Codes is the opportunity to grow my skills and create a better future for myself. As a student studying Viticulture and Oenology at Stellenbosch University, I’ve become interested in how technology and cloud computing can transform industries like agriculture and wine production. I want to learn coding because I believe technology is becoming part of every field, and I want to be equipped for the future. Coding gives me the ability to solve problems, build projects, and open doors to opportunities in tech, innovation, and entrepreneurship. She Codes motivates me because it creates a space where women can learn, grow in confidence, and succeed in an industry where representation matters. I want to challenge myself, gain practical skills, and become someone who can inspire other young women from communities like mine to believe they can also succeed in technology.

I learn a bit of coding with freecodeccamp , go for wine tasting ,equip myself in cloud computing as it is something i want to branch into. And just networking with people in the tech industry

Phila's coding training

Phila has gained access to SheCodes Basics and SheCodes AI Basics at no cost. Together they are a 6 week coding training that’ll take her from a complete beginner to building her first websites and AI projects.

She'll learn the foundations of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, plus how to build with AI and modern development tools. She'll also get to build her own online portfolio to showcase to potential employers!

📦 Foundation students get access to these coding workshops:
1. SheCodes Basics (3 weeks)
2. SheCodes AI Basics (3 weeks)
She’ll gain access to each portion after finishing the preceding portion. She’ll build up her coding knowledge gradually along the way. 🙌
