Polina's Story I started to learn coding in the middle school, when I was 13. It was Python in our computer sciences classes, and overall it went really well to me. Even though, I had some tough moments in learning, at the end I always figured them out and that was what I liked even more - to find a solution to complex things (for me).

🙋‍♀️ Polina's Motivation

My entire life I was surrounded by people, who were meant to be or became successful in tech industry. My childhood friends, my middle school decathlons team members, my university peers (I was a student of a non-tech major in a Polytechnic university). All of them were guys. I was always listening about how girls are less capable than guys, how STEM isn’t for girls. Honestly, that discouraged me a lot of learning how to code, even though I always wanted to. Now, seeing a lot of amazing women in tech lately made me want to go back to my dream to code. The reason is so many opportunities to learn in a non-toxic environment, where many girls from different countries can support and help each other and share a common experience. That’s why seeing a foundation like SheCodes really motivated me to try.

In my free time I read, learn new languages, try new recipes, go for a walk, do makeup, 3d animation.

Polina's coding training

Polina has gained access to SheCodes Basics and SheCodes AI Basics at no cost. Together they are a 6 week coding training that’ll take her from a complete beginner to building her first websites and AI projects.

She'll learn the foundations of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, plus how to build with AI and modern development tools. She'll also get to build her own online portfolio to showcase to potential employers!
