Precious's Story A few years ago, I applied to a coding bootcamp after a friend who was studying computer science at the time recommended it. The challenges were interesting but very difficult at the time. I did not make it through. But what I took from that experience was how it challenged me to think outside of the box. My analytical, critical, and strategic thinking skills were put to the test and I enjoyed how that made me feel and I wanted to do more of it. I want to learn how to code so that I can gain critical skills, attain a qualification, and build a career in tech.

Coding is a very valuable skill especially for an entry-level job candidate looking to venture into a technological role. I want to learn how to code so that I can improve my professional skill set and become marketable in the technological job market. SheCodes offers a project-based approach to learning how to code. This automatically translates into skill demonstration which would enable me to build my portfolio while learning. I want to learn within an organization that prioritizes the advancement of women into well-paying tech roles. I also want to develop my skills and put myself in a better position to provide for my family and improve our living conditions.

I enjoy watching YouTube tutorials, watching tech content on social media, entering Hackathons, playing Sudoku, exploring coding platforms, networking on LinkedIn, visualizing data on Microsoft Power BI, and learning new skills.

Precious's coding training

Precious has gained access to SheCodes Basics and SheCodes AI Basics at no cost. Together they are a 6 week coding training that’ll take her from a complete beginner to building her first websites and AI projects.

She'll learn the foundations of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, plus how to build with AI and modern development tools. She'll also get to build her own online portfolio to showcase to potential employers!
