Ruvimbo's Story When my uncle who is an IT specialist told me that programmers are high in demand all over the world. You can become a freelancer and work freely, you can work for some companies, you can work on your own side projects or you can also use your coding skill for your own startup.

🙋‍♀️ Ruvimbo's Motivation

I’ve always been fascinated with computers. I have an extensive background working in corporate IT for 2years. I worked in infrastructure primarily…( non coding for the most part ) and from what I observed throughout my time is that coding is the most valuable and powerful part. Hardware is a commodity…operating systems are generally static….but where the most magic can happen is with code at the application layer. I’ve seen amazing applications really optimize workloads and glean with efficiency….but unfortunately that is a very rare occurrence….mostly there are bloated systems that are super expensive and super inefficient in most companies today. It seems like such a waste…of time…energy…and money……..I’ve always thought I could create an application and do it way better than how it is being done today. Eventually I had an opportunity to give a shot. Challenge accepted! I will say that it has been a much longer journey than I had anticipated. I’m doing web development primarily…and it’s been a journey filled with fs. Fascinating…flummoxing….and other fs…..There’s a lot to learn…and in a way it’s amazing to me that this stuff works at all. I’ve also found that one of the most challenging parts is that there are not a lot of what I would consider high quality resources out there to learn. From what I’ve observed you can find all kinds of videos and articles that get you about 80 percent of the way there. The other 20 percent? Trial and error and a few fs along the way. Ok more than a few. That’s been one of the most frustrating parts. But when you start to see your passion project come alive…it’s indescribable…the feeling of accomplishment knowing that you’re responsible for the creation is amazing…and beyond words quite frankly. That’s what motivates me most.

The SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The SheCodes Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
