salma's Story My interest in coding began while working in an environment where I observed people building websites and improving digital platforms. I was fascinated by how coding could transform an idea into something functional, visually appealing, and impactful. Watching technology bring ideas to life sparked my curiosity and inspired me to learn how it all worked. Exploring further, I realized that coding is much more than a technical skill. It is a powerful tool for creativity, problem-solving, and innovation. I see it as a way to create opportunities not only for my own personal and professional growth but also to develop solutions that can positively impact others.

🙋‍♀️ salma's Motivation

My motivation for learning to code comes from my belief that technology has the power to create opportunities and transform lives. I want to develop skills that will help me grow professionally, attain financial independence, and build innovative solutions that make a meaningful impact. I am specifically passionate about inspiring more girls and young women in Mombasa to explore technology with confidence and consider careers in the digital world. Growing up in a community where access to these opportunities is often limited, I understand how life-changing the right support and education can be. My goal is not only to build a career in tech but also to use the knowledge and experience I gain to mentor and empower others, showing them that they, too, can succeed in this field.

🤹‍♀️ salma's Hobbies

In my free time, I enjoy learning new technology skills. I also like reading, taking walks, and spending time with family and friends. I appreciate activities that allow me to relax while keeping my mind active and curious.

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The SheCodes Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
