Siphokazi's Story My interest in coding was sparked by my son who has autism. Its strange thing to say but he is a like a computer in how analyses information, usually with minimal or even without verbalizing. Code is the means that humans communicate with computers and my son easily takes instructions as if he was "communicating" with one of his own. When I investigated how this behaviour may have originated, I realised it was because he had a strong affinity to coding. Since then I have been intrigued by coding and the more I learned about it, the more interested I have become, not only as a means of providing clear instructions to a computer or application, but as a way of communicating with my child and other children with autism (ASD).

🙋‍♀️ Siphokazi's Motivation

I recently graduated with a postgraduate diploma in Information Technology Management. An opportunity to study coding would help to develop my career even more. I have always had a passion for learning how to code. Coding will improve my skillset and a better life for my children.

The SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The SheCodes Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
