Siyabonga's Story My interest in coding began during my studies in Actuarial Science and Mathematics, where I was introduced to programming languages like Python, R, and MATLAB. At first, I saw coding as just a tool to solve mathematical problems, but over time I realized how powerful it is in analyzing data, building models, and automating solutions. Working on projects like forecasting and optimization deepened my curiosity, because I could see how a few lines of code could turn complex theory into practical applications. That experience showed me that coding is not just about solving equations—it’s about creating, innovating, and making ideas come to life

🙋‍♀️ Siyabonga's Motivation

I want to strengthen my coding skills so I can combine them with my background in Actuarial Science and Mathematics to solve real-world problems. Coding gives me the ability to transform mathematical and analytical models into practical solutions, whether for data analysis, financial modeling, or optimization. SheCodes offers a structured and supportive environment where I can improve my coding skills in a practical way, making me more confident in applying programming to my career goals. I see coding as an essential tool for modern problem-solving, and mastering it will allow me to explore opportunities in data analytics, finance, and technology. Beyond career goals, I’m motivated by curiosity—I enjoy learning new skills, tackling challenges, and building something meaningful from scratch with code.

🤹‍♀️ Siyabonga's Hobbies

I play ultimate frisbee at a professional level, and I’ve had the privilege of representing South Africa internationally. It keeps me active, disciplined, and connected to teamwork. I enjoy solving puzzles and engaging in mathematical challenges—it’s both fun and a way to sharpen my problem-solving skills. I like exploring new tech tools, coding projects, and data challenges in my free time—it feels rewarding to build or analyze something from scratch. The SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The SheCodes Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
