Teboho's Story Every Friday, I watched as my friends would leave our usual hangouts and head off to a coding program. At first, I barely paid attention. I thought it was just another extracurricular activity, something to fill their time. But as weeks went by, their excitement grew, and it started to catch my attention. They spoke about their sessions with a kind of enthusiasm that was almost infectious. They used words like "variables," "loops," and "functions" with such confidence that it felt like they were uncovering secrets of the digital world. My curiosity was initially driven by a desire to understand what made them so excited. I wasn’t particularly drawn to programming itself; I just wanted to grasp why this new activity had such a hold on them. I began asking more about their Friday sessions. They eagerly described how they were learning to write code, build applications, and solve problems using programming languages. Their passion was so contagious that I felt a growing urge to see what it was all about. So, I decided to give the coding program a try. My first experience was thrilling yet daunting. I remember struggling with debugging, where a single missing semicolon could send my entire code into an error. It taught me patience and perseverance, turning each error into a puzzle to solve and each successful run into a hard-earned triumph. What started as a casual curiosity quickly evolved into a deep obsession. I began eagerly anticipating Friday afternoons, not just to hang out with friends but to dive into the world of coding myself. The program opened up new pathways for problem-solving and creativity I hadn't explored before. It became clear that coding was more than just writing instructions for a computer; it was about learning to think critically and approach challenges from different perspectives. Looking back, I realize that my initial interest was about connecting with my friends and understanding their excitement. However, through hands-on experience, that curiosity transformed into a genuine passion. The thrill of solving problems, the joy of creating something new, and the satisfaction of overcoming obstacles all contributed to my growing love for coding.
