Thandolwethu's Story I was introduced to basic coding in high school but I knew it to be a “white male-dominated” industry so never took it upon myself to learn. Until I started seeing a representation of “Black Women in Tech” and that sparked my interest in the field all over again. I’m interested in the skills, possibilities, and community that is built for black women to thrive in the Tech industry.

🙋‍♀️ Thandolwethu's Motivation

I’m a visionary individual who is always in pursuit of fruitful opportunities that will upskill and empower me as a black woman in South Africa, and I know that The SheCodes foundation is the ideal platform to assist in my pursuit.

🤹‍♀️ Thandolwethu's Hobbies

I'm a creative soul. I enjoy singing, acting, and supporting the arts in South Africa. I attend museums, art galleries, film festivals, and so on. I also love being in nature, so I frequent the beaches in Cape Town and hike the mountains. I'm somewhat introverted so a go-to hobby would be binge-watching Korean Drama on Netflix all weekend too.

🎯

The SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The SheCodes Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
