Thobile's Story I first became interested in coding back in high school. I took a computer subject that introduced us to the basics of coding, and I remember being fascinated by the idea that you could type something and actually make things happen on a screen. It felt powerful and creative at the same time. Unfortunately, we didn’t get much exposure beyond the basics. There weren’t enough resources, support, or real-world applications to keep the spark alive, so over time, my interest started to fade—but not completely. A part of me still remembered how exciting it felt to make something work through code. Years later, I started thinking about it again and decided to explore it on my own. I watched tutorials, read a few articles, and that old curiosity came rushing back. This time, it felt different—like I was ready to take it seriously. What really draws me to coding now is the combination of logic, creativity, and problem-solving. It’s something I want to keep learning, not just for a career, but for myself. I see it as a tool that can open up new opportunities, and I’m excited to finally give it the time and attention it deserves.

🙋‍♀️ Thobile's Motivation

My motivation to learn with Delac Foundations comes from a real desire to change my path and build something meaningful for myself. I’ve always been curious about how things work behind the scenes—especially in tech—but I never really knew where to begin. Coding always felt a bit intimidating, but the more I learn about it, the more I realize it’s a skill that can open so many doors. What drew me to Delac Foundations is the supportive space they’ve created for women who want to break into tech. It’s easy to feel like you don’t belong when you’re starting something new, but this program makes it feel possible. I love that it’s focused not just on learning to code, but on building confidence and community too. I want to be part of something that helps me grow, both personally and professionally. I’m motivated by the idea of creating solutions, building projects I can be proud of, and gaining skills that can lead to real opportunities. This is more than just a course for me—it’s a chance to take control of my future. I’m excited (and a little nervous), but mostly ready to give it my all.

🤹‍♀️ Thobile's Hobbies

In my free time, I enjoy reading, exploring new technologies, and staying active through walking or light exercise. I’m also interested in trying out content creation, which allows me to develop creativity and communication skills. Additionally, I value quality time with family and thoughtful reflection.

The SheCodes Foundation Mission

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The SheCodes Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
