Tokoloho's Story I was first interested in coding a few years ago through a friend that worked in IT. I found the skill fascinating and I also admired how he was able to work from home and at the office. Coding is needed in, if not all most sectors worldwide.

🙋‍♀️ Tokoloho's Motivation

I really would like to learn to code because it is a skill I have been wanting to learn for a few years now. Especially after covid, I noticed how beneficial it could be. Living in South Africa, there is a high unemployment rate. With most of our degrees we have many young people applying for jobs but very few are available. With coding I get to work for companies abroad as well as locally. I will not be limited. I also find coding very fascinating because it requires a person to be creative. I have a 1 year old daughter and I know I could create a better life for her if I got this opportunity. I am a disciplined person and I always finish what I start. I grab every opportunity with both hands and make something out of it.

🤹‍♀️ Tokoloho's Hobbies

I like taking my daughter to the park and watching movies with her. I enjoy cooking and trying new recipes. I workout at least 5 days a week, it is one of the ways I make sure I keep my energy levels high. I write in my journal daily, it helps me me self reflect. I spend time with friends and family as well.

Women hold only 25% of coding jobs and earn 30% less than men. In many developing countries, over 65% of women lack bank accounts, making it difficult to invest in their education.

The SheCodes Foundation is changing that. We provide women in developing countries with free coding education, equipping them with the skills to build a better future. In partnership with SheCodes, we offer training in product development, design, and management, empowering women to thrive in the tech industry.
