Unathi's Story Most of my 10-year career has been in Customer Support and Retail. It's only recently when I moved into the FinTech space that I started being exposed to Engineering and all the different facets that fall under it ( coding, being a UX designer, developers, software engineers, etc ) and seeing the growing number of women in this male-dominated space has made me want to take up my own space within and prove what exactly ladies are capable of.

🙋‍♀️ Unathi's Motivation

I've always been fascinated by coding but for the longest time, I thought this was a skill for men only and that you needed to be a genius in maths to know how to code. After doing my own research I realized this is not true. Anyone can learn how to code, as long as they have the dedication and are willing to go the extra mile when it comes to their learning. Once I realized this, my dream of actually tapping into this field which is known for paying well ( the more you improve your skills ) didn't just feel like a dream anymore, it seems like a reality.

🤹‍♀️ Unathi's Hobbies

I'm a huge bookwork. Give me a book that has a movie that was based on that same book and I will be indebted to you for life. I've also started participating in marathons ( more like races cause I'm only doing 10km at the moment ) so one race a month just to keep fit and healthy. I also just learned to ride a bike again after not getting on one for over a decade.

Unathi's coding training

Unathi has gained access to SheCodes Basics and SheCodes AI Basics at no cost. Together they are a 6 week coding training that’ll take her from a complete beginner to building her first websites and AI projects.

She'll learn the foundations of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, plus how to build with AI and modern development tools. She'll also get to build her own online portfolio to showcase to potential employers!
