Zuma's Story I first became interested in coding while supervising my daughter during her coding classes. What started as simple support for her homework quickly turned into a genuine curiosity on my part. As I sat with her, helping her understand basic concepts and watching her create simple programs, I found myself captivated by the logic and creativity behind coding. It amazed me how lines of code could produce interactive animations, games, or websites. The more I observed, the more I wanted to understand it for myself. I began asking questions, researching terms I didn’t know, and even trying out a few exercises on my own. What stood out to me was how empowering it felt to “speak” the language of technology—something that shapes so much of our world today. Seeing my daughter’s confidence grow through coding made me realize how valuable the skill is, not just for kids, but for adults too. I wanted to keep up, support her better, and also develop personally. That experience sparked a deep desire to explore coding further, and led me to research on a platforms where I can now learn, grow, and potentially inspire others just as I was inspired by my daughter.

My motivation for learning how to code with SheCodes stems from a desire to bridge creativity with technology and to unlock new career opportunities in the digital world. I’ve always been fascinated by how websites and applications work behind the scenes, and I believe coding is a powerful skill that can turn ideas into reality. SheCodes offers a supportive, beginner-friendly environment that empowers women to enter the tech space, which makes it the ideal platform for my learning journey. Through coding, I aim to enhance my problem-solving abilities, gain confidence in building digital products, and eventually contribute meaningfully to innovative projects. Whether it's creating a personal website, developing user-friendly apps, or exploring freelance opportunities, I see coding as a tool that opens doors to independence, flexibility, and continuous growth. Furthermore, I’m inspired by the growing community of women in tech and want to be part of that movement—challenging stereotypes and encouraging others to follow suit. SheCodes represents more than just a class; it’s a community and a launchpad for transformation. I’m excited to invest in myself, learn new skills, and step confidently into a future shaped by technology. This is the first step in a journey I’ve long wanted to take.

I enjoy reading novels and articles that expand my knowledge and imagination. Cooking is another hobby I love—experimenting with new recipes is both relaxing and rewarding. I also enjoy watching movies, especially dramas and documentaries, as they offer a fun way to unwind and explore different stories and perspectives.

Zuma's coding training

Zuma has gained access to SheCodes Basics and SheCodes AI Basics at no cost. Together they are a 6 week coding training that’ll take her from a complete beginner to building her first websites and AI projects.

She'll learn the foundations of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, plus how to build with AI and modern development tools. She'll also get to build her own online portfolio to showcase to potential employers!

2. SheCodes AI Basics (3 weeks)
She’ll gain access to each portion after finishing the preceding portion. She’ll build up her coding knowledge gradually along the way. 🙌
